PIT BOSS — HARDWOOD PELLETS

The cheapest upgrade to everything you cook.

People spend weeks choosing a grill and thirty seconds choosing pellets. Yet the blend in the hopper is what the food actually tastes like. Three blends cover almost everything.

Fuel and seasoning at the same time

Pellets are compressed hardwood — they are both the heat source and the flavor. Switching blends changes a cook more noticeably than most accessories will. We keep three 20 lb blends in stock because between them they cover poultry, pork, beef and everything in between.

3 products

Apple Blend (20 lb)

Mild and slightly sweet

The forgiving one. Poultry, pork and fish, and the safest choice if you are cooking for people with varied tastes.

Competition Blend (20 lb)

The everyday default

A balanced blend built to suit most proteins. If you keep one bag on hand, keep this one.

Mesquite Blend (20 lb)

Bold and unmistakable

Strong, earthy smoke for beef and anything you want to taste from across the yard. Assertive — many people cut it with Competition.

Common questions

How long does a 20 lb bag last?

Roughly 6 to 10 hours of cooking depending on temperature and weather. Cold days and high heat burn faster.

Do pellets go bad?

They do not spoil, but they must stay dry. Moisture makes them swell and jam the auger. Keep them sealed and off a damp garage floor and they keep indefinitely.

Can I mix blends?

Yes, and many regulars do — Mesquite cut with Competition is a common combination for beef.
